Well safe to say the weather is on the turn again. With the temperatures rapidly dropping and talks of artic winds on the forecast it is time to get those winter blankets and chunky knit out and dusted off. I am no meteorologist but I have always found hot summers are followed by freezing winters. In this case it may just be wishful thinking as the cold is my favourite temperature. Take me somewhere with snow any day of the week. So, are you ready to get cosy this winter?

Be Prepared

I guess the thing is that no weather needs to be bad if you are prepared for it. And the joy of the cold means the preparation can include all the cosy things. Who doesn’t like to be cosy?

Here are my winter cosy essentials to see you through the Arctic winds and Atlantic showers.

Chunky Knits

It is all about the chunky knit. Or the small knit of you prefer something smarter. But knitted jumpers and cardigans are my favourite attire in the winter. To be honest I am gutted I have to put them away in the summer. It doesn’t matter what your colour choice you cannot go wrong with a knitted jumper and a pair of jeans or leggings. School run mum essentials right there!

Tea, Tea & More Tea

Maybe it is the Brit in me but no cold day is complete without a cuppa. Tea not your thing? I guess there is always hot chocolate or coffee. The key to a great winter drink is a great winter mug. One that you can hold even when your drink is scolding and warm up those frost bitten fingers.

Blankets & Throws

No room is complete without a blanket or throw in the winter. I have so many of them but my collection isn’t complete. Plus the fluffier the better. You may not wrap up in them all the time but they are great for cold feet when you forgot to get your slippers. Which brings me to….

Slippers

Everyone needs some fluffy slippers. It doesn’t matter what your style; boot, pump, open back…. There is a fluffy slipper out there for everyone to keep those tootsies warm as the nights draw in. And failing that there are always slipper socks. I am not a fan personally as I live with kids who like to spill things. If you know, you know.

Bedding

No winter bedroom is complete without luxury bedding to complement your cosy bed; check out the stylish beds from Room To Sleep if you need some inspiration. Their excellent bedding, pictured here is 100% cotton and is a winter must. It is so soft to touch and perfect for keeping you warm on cold winter nights and frosty mornings! The duvet set is very stylish and versatile, its easy to layer up with a chunky knit or faux-fur throw for winter – all you’ll want to do is get snuggly, hibernate in bed and watch Netflix all day (which is totally okay)!

What do you need this winter?

Those are my essentials to get through a cold winter. What would you add to the list?

*I was gifted a bedding set in exchange for a blog post.

Yes! I love everything about this post, wrapping my hands around a hot cup of tea and snuggling under a cosy blanket. I definitely think I need to treat myself to some new chunky knits this winter too.

I am very suspicious about what our winter will hold after such a long hot summer and a beautiful, calm autumn! We love blankets in our home and have four in the lounge to use on the sofas. Your photos are beautiful x

I like this list a lot and it has reminded me, especially now the temperature is starting to drop, of the essentials I need to get in before it gets too cold! Do you have any recommendations for where you get your blankets/throws from (as you said the fluffier the better!). Thanks, loved the post!

Yes to all of these things for winter. The knits are out and next week I’ll be putting the heavy duvet back on our bed. I bought some fluffy slippers recently and they’ve been a godsend in the mornings!

Kirsty, this is lovely. I love how you’ve really developed your photography style. and it fits perfectly with this post and all things snuggly. I need a new duvet set, so thanks for the tip. Would also like to know where you got the grey chunky knit from?
