Little Street in Frimley, Surrey is one of my favourite places to take the girls for a morning out. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Little Street they are a play centre for children under 7 with sites in Frimley, West Byfleet and Maidstone. The idea behind the company is to provide children with a role play experience. When we were invited to come along and see what changes they had made during their refurbishment I was really excited. How could I say no?
Little Street is the best…
Those of you that regularly read my blog my be aware that I am not all that keen on soft play as an activity. So much so that I can liken it to labour with depressing similarity. The joy of Little Street is that it is NOTHING like soft play!
1. It is clean… Like really clean (even before their refurb)
2. There isn’t a sponge slide insight.
3. The coffee is good! I mean it actually tastes like coffee…
4. I don’t dread going… Thinking ‘Why did I agree to this.’
5. It is never horrifically busy.
Point 5 is an important one, obviously all buildings have regulations as to how many people are allowed in. Well Little Street not only never exceed this but will often refuse to meet the maximum as it would detract from the overall experience. With prebookable sessions this is easy for them to manage. Unlike our usual
hell on earth soft play.
The changes they have made a subtle. I won’t lie I was a little worried it was going to be completely different but it isn’t. The shop is still there (I love this shop and it is usually* one of the girls favs too). The bakery, the hairdressers, the construction site and the theatre are all still there.
The Air Ambulance
There is a brand new, bright red helicopter in the middle of the room and it is AMAZING! The kids were all drawn to it, and who wouldn’t be?!
As I said before the shop is usually my daughters favourite section. Well not anymore. Now it is the vets. I couldn’t get them out of it for ages. The cuddly animals had their own little ‘cages’, there was an examination table and a desk for all the appointments. Ellie had so much fun checking over all the animals whilst barking (shameless pun intended) orders at Trixie. Ellie took a shine to a cat and Trixie to a guinea pig…. They would not put them down, not even for cake! That’s right, my two apples who basically fell out of the tree and landed directly at the base of it refused cake!!! This is a first.
We will be back
We have been here a lot in the past, usually with friends. Quite simply we will be going back very soon. The girls couldn’t have had more fun and I think they won over the staff there with their role play in the hair dressers. There are a lot of places to take your kids for a morning out but none can compare to Little Street. It is an experience like no other and I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough.
